Mother charged with first-degree murder for role in coercing son to kill his father
Homicide agents with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office waited for a grand jury indictment earlier today before swooping in and arresting a Merritt Island woman they say coerced her son into killing his father.
Investigators arrested Sharon Myers, 47, [Sharon has remarried] in connection with her husband’s 2008 murder. She has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder and armed burglary.
Her son, 24-year-old Darryl Kenney, was convicted of the murder in October and sentenced to life in prison. His accomplice, Rubin Nero, also was sentenced to life. But throughout Kenney’s trial, defense attorneys pinned the blame on his mother. They said Myers worked her son into a murderous rage by sending him hundreds of letters detailing fictitious abuse against her and Darryl Kenney’s sister.
Public defender Randy Moore urged jurors to use common sense during the trial, saying it is vital to know what was going on in Kenney's mind when he gunned down his father only days after being released from prison.
He said it should have been Kenney's mother who should have been on trial.
"Someone is feeding this information to Darryl while he is in prison," Moore said during closing arguments in October. "We have a young man that has come to the conclusion that this man was abusing his mother and tried to rape his sister. What was going through his mind when these acts were committed? Don't you know what was going on in his head?"

Finally!!!!! I knew it all along!!!!!!!
I knew ALL along Sharon was behind it. Even before the murder, Sharon had been acting really weird and doing things unlike her normal behavior. You could also tell Gary knew something was up. Sharon all of a sudden lost a ton of weight, started going to the tanning bed, dressing more provocative, flirting with any man who passed her and drinking more. She wanted OUT of the marriage for her own selfish reasons. She would write Darryl pages and pages of who knows what out of nowhere and arounf thesame time her behavior changed. Right after Gary died she bought 2 brand new cars, sold his belongings and immediately started dating someone . You couldn't even tell she was upset at all about Gary being gone, all she did was brag about her new bf. It's all disgusting to me and.as much as I liked Sharon this makes me sick. I'm glad your family can have a little closure, I just hope Joshua and Amanda are cared for and welcomed because they are innocent.
