This was posted as a comment, I think it deserves a post of it's own.

John,
Sorry for you and your family's loss.
Who is the judge presiding over this case? I think there are a few contacts in Tallahassee or a chief judge that would love to understand why this trial has been open these past six years perhaps unnecessarily.
There are laws that may have been or are being broken. It may be worthwhile seeking an attorney that will see if the county can be sued or help determine if there are any laws that have been broken.

Some states have something called "Lazy Judge rules" but it can be difficult to make change without the help of the media bringing attention to the issue.
I think you have a legitimate concern and case to desire a speedy trial. I also think it applies to Sharon as well, despite her attorneys multiple and successful requests to have this pushed to a later date.

Merritt Island is standing for justice. Whether Sharon is guilty or not, the evidence should stand on its own. Sharon should be able to stand among her peers. If there is nothing incriminating and the evidence is not strong, her peers will determine she is not guilty. If that happens, you should be able to live with that and accept it. However, if Sharon is found guilty, despite being a born-again Christian she would have consequences for any of mans laws that were broken.

SHARON MYERS, if you read this blog, please allow your attorneys to go through with this trial. Gary has been deceased for almost a decade, your children are now adults, and there are other lives you are now apart of that continue to share in this burden. Justice will prove you innocent or guilty. Then everyone can accept this and move on with life without this cloud hanging over the church, Merritt Island, and most importantly the families involved with this horrible tragedy. There are two men incarcerated for life that had their trials. I think you can step up as an adult and have yours.

Here is a link that may help you with some specific clauses relating to Judge behavior.

Specifically RULE 2.310

If there is someone working at the courthouse/county, using their authority to get certain treatment, I believe that is illegal. Again, you must be certain of these things prior to making those types of statements. A great question to the Florida today could be- Why does a speedy trail take six years? How many other trials are delayed? if there are many delayed then--Why so many? If not, then why is this one the only one?

God Bless all of the people involved and may God's will be done.
